Hyderabad: Property worth lakhs of rupees was gutted in a fire accident that occurred at the Reliance Digital showroom in Kacheguda on Thursday. There was, however, no casualty reported.

According to officials, four employees who reported to duty around 9.30 am noticed smokes billowing from the server room as they turned on the main switch of the showroom. Immediately, they called fire services and police.

Three fire tenders were pressed into service to douse the fire. They worked for about two hours to put out the fire. Fire services officials said that the smokes engulfed the first floor of the four storeyed showroom due to which it took them time to douse the fire.

It is suspected that the fire accident occurred because of an electric short-circuit. District Fire Officer, Srinivasa Reddy, said that the business establishment did not install any fire safety measures and the fire accident occurred due to the negligence by the management. The quantum of loss would be known only after complete investigation, officials said.

"We will investigate the matter thoroughly and prosecute the management. We will also look into whether the building has a no objection certificate issued by the fire services department," Srinivasa Reddy said. Meanwhile, the showroom manager, Raghavendra lodged a complaint with the Kacheguda police stating they suffered huge loss because of the fire accident.
