Hyderabad: Telangana Joint Action Committee (TJAC) Chairman Prof M Kodandaram on Thursday said the TJAC had succeeded in highlighting the problem of unemployment. Speaking to media persons after chairing TJAC Steering Committee meeting here, Kodandaram said although State government used all means to thwart the rally and arrested more than 5,000 activists, the TJAC had achieved its goal of highlighting the crisis arising out of acute unemployment in the State.
He said the TJAC had decided to organise the rally to put pressure on the government to speed up the process of filling vacancies. He expressed his thanks to the media for giving wide publicity to the TJAC’s rally.  Pof Kodandaram said hundreds of activists, including students, had defied the restrictions imposed by the police. In fact, some of the TJAC leaders had succeeded in staging protests at Sundarayya Vignana Kendra, he said.
Future course of action would be charted after holding talks with students, he said. The TJAC’s action in calling for a march by unemployed had helped in strengthening its base. Several prominent people, including Prashant Bhushan and Yogendra Yadav, had announced their complete support.
He announced that the TJAC would continue fight against unemployment. The TJAC would also launch movements to secure justice for the oustsees of various projects, implementation of recommendations of Sudhir Commission and other issues. He said effective representation would be made with the legislators of all political parties requesting them to raise the issues of public importance in the forthcoming budget session of State Legislative Assembly and Council.
The TJAC had sought appointment with President so as to bring to his notice about the plight of farmers due to land acquisition under Mallannasagar project. The JAC also decided to organised meetings on the report of Sudheer Committee. He said meetings would be organised in Mahbubnagar on March 1, Nizamabad on March 4 and at Karimnagar on March 5.
The JAC chairman said that several leaders including Swamy Agnivesh, Prashant Bhushan, Yogendra Yadav and others talked to him on phone and pledged their support to him.  Replying to a question, Kodandaram said those in power tried to project the TJAC as a divided house. But the powers that be should realise that the TJAC is not so fragile that it would break up, he said.  Earlier in the day Congress senior leader V Hanumanth Rao, Vimalakka and others met Kodandaram at his residence.
