Hyderabad: Telugu Desam Party (TDP) leaders complained to Governor ESL Narasimhan on Thursday that the government had been in deep slumber while the people were dying with contagious diseases.
They wanted the Governor to take steps to provide ex-gratia to the patients who lost their sight in Sarojini Hospital during a botched up eye operation last year and ensure that enough manpower and facilities were provided in government hospitals.
In a representation submitted to the Governor, party State president L Ramana, former minister M Narasimhulu, politburo member R Chandrasekhar Reddy, Rajya Sabha member G Mohan Rao and others said the government hospitals were in very bad shape and poor were losing lives instead of getting treatment.
They said the government had not been spending the allocations made in the budget and did not pay attention to improve the facilities in Gandhi Hospital.
Recalling the incident in which a girl died due to infected saline, they told the Governor that instead of taking corrective measures, a case had been filed on the father of the girl who questioned the negligence of doctors. They urged the Governor to intervene and see that necessary corrective measures were taken.
