Hyderabad: Telangana government has announced several sops for Village Revenue Assistants (VRAs) who have been waiting for salary hike for years. Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on Friday announced the increase of salaries of VRAs by 64.61 per cent.

With this, the salaries of the VRAs would increase to Rs 10,500 from the present Rs 6,500. The hiked salaries will be paid to the VRAs from April 1. The Chief Minister also announced that the VRAs would be given double bed room houses in their own village.

They will also get 30 per cent reservation in the VRO, attender and driver posts. The CM also issued instructions that all those who are referred to as Vetti and by other nomenclature should now be referred to and addressed as VRAs. The decisions taken by the government would benefit 19,345 VRAs working in all districts.

The services of the VRAs who passed the Public Service Commission examination would be regularised. This decision would benefit 2,900 VRAs who were appointed directly after clearing the TSPSC but were so far working on a lesser wages. At the meeting with the representatives of VRAs, KCR said the government would soon appoint VRAs in the newly created districts, divisions and mandals.
