Police plea to help make Hyderabad crime-free

Hyderabad: Director General of Police (DGP) Anurag Sharma on Monday appealed to the people to join hands with the police to make Hyderabad a crime-free city. Unveiling a T-shirt with a printed message ‘I Support SHE Teams’ on it, the DGP said the city police had taken up an initiative on the occasion of International Women’s Day and Week to create awareness on women safety and cyber crimes and also to obtain support in achieving a ‘crime-free Hyderabad city’.
As part of the awareness campaign, a 5 km and 2 km run and ‘Pram Walk’ were being organised on Necklace Road on March 5, he said. A day before the awareness run, Home Minister Naini Narsimha Reddy will inaugurate a women expo with 50 stalls at the People’s Plaza. Various government departments like Women and Child Welfare, Health, Horticulture, various police wings and NGOs will set up their stalls apart from various other private stalls.
Educative and informative presentations and short films would be displayed at the stalls and citizens could clear their doubts with the help of experts present there, the DGP said. Multiple competitions and cultural activities will be organised besides demonstrating self defense techniques.
The awareness run is open for all and interested persons can register their names for free at www.sheforchange.com. Those who register for the run can collect their free T-shirt on March 4, at the expo to be inaugurated at People’s Plaza.
