Mahbubnagar: Saayam Cheddam Foundation (SCF) a non-profit organisaton has initiated ‘Lighting up the Dark’ project with an objective of strategically reaching to off-grid places in remote villages of India where there is no power supply whatsoever and finalised on lighting up the lives of Chenchu tribes in the villages near Appapur, Nallamalla forest.

On Tuesday the team distributed 22 solar lamps in Bowrapur, besides Appapur village. The team of the SCF carried out preliminary assessment regarding authorisation and permissions from the Forest department as some of these tribes are located in deep forest.

A few villages around Appapur are absolutely dark with no power supply. Appapur is a reputed village and has a population of 25 families, located 20 km inside from the main stream road line (Srisailam road).

Average strength of the picked village would be around 15 families. The team partnered with U.S-based The Hill high school student, Sai Siddarth Domala who has assisted in diligence through funding and logistics. The Solar lamps distributed are procured from THRIVE Solar Energy carrying one year warranty.
