​Hyderabad: Home Minister, Naini Narsimha Reddy on Saturday said the SHE teams have brought laurels for Telangana.

Speaking after inaugurating the women and child expo at People’s Plaza on the Necklace Road, he said the government is taking steps to launch SHE teams and Bharosa centers in all districts of Telangana.

“We are committed to ensure the safety of women in the state,” the Home Minister said adding that he would take initiative in getting additional funds for SHE teams. Speaking on the occasion, Director General of Police, Anurag Sharma, said every woman in the city is now aware of SHE teams, which speaks of their popularity and success.

About 50 stalls were set up by various government departments like women and child welfare, health, horticulture, various police wings, NGOs and other private persons. Educative and informative presentations, short films were displayed at the stalls and experts on various subjects related to women safety clarified the doubts raised by the citizens.

Speaking on the occasion, City Police Commissioner, M Mahender Reddy said the SHE teams were functioning successfully with the active cooperation of the citizens and NGOs.

He appealed to the people to take part in the 5K and 2K run for a crime free Hyderabad to begin at 6 am on Sunday from the People’s Plaza on the Necklace Road. Additional Commissioner of Police, in charge of SHE teams, Swati Lakra and other senior officials were present on the occasion.
