The Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) has decided to launch an agitation against the government soon after the budget session of the state Assembly is over.

Hyderabad: The Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) has decided to launch an agitation against the government soon after the budget session of the state Assembly is over.

At a meeting, AICC in-charge of state affairs Digvijay Singh, had with TPCC President N Uttam Kumar Reddy and leaders of ST Cell, Minorities Department and Mahila Congress at Gandhi Bhavan on Thursday, it was decided that TPCC should launch a campaign against the government, particularly over the issues pertaining to tribals and the false promises made to them by TRS during elections.

The party will be holding huge public meetings from April 9, in Khammam, Nalgonda, Hyderabad and Adilabad, as part of a month long campaign.
During the meeting it was decided that the tribals’ issues should be taken up by the party more aggressively.

The party has decided to run campaign from April 9 till the end of the month. As part of this campaign, it will be holding public meetings in Khammam on April 9, Dameracharla (Nalgonda) on April 13, Nizam College grounds in Hyderabad on April 23 and Adilabad on April 30.

The issues to be discussed during the meetings include promise of 12 per cent reservation, forcible land acquisition and alleged violation of various acts and provisions of tribals.

Later briefing media persons, Uttam Kumar Reddy said that about 11,000 acres given to tribals during the Congress regime in the undivided Andhra Pradesh was snatched away from tribals in the name of Haritha Haram.TPCC Working President Mallu Bhatti Vikaramarka accused the government of not implementing the SC, ST Sub-Plan in the state.

Digvijay also held a meeting with Muslim leaders where it was decided to take on MIM. Digvijay said that MIM and BJP were communal parties. He alleged that both the parties were hand-in-glove in their clandestine strategy in polarising Hindus and Muslims.

Since, April 19 was the day, when KCR promised 12 per cent reservations to Muslims in Shadnagar, the party will hold public meeting at the same place, he said.

During the meeting with Mahila Congress leaders, Digvijay found fault with the current government for ignoring women and not giving them any place in the cabinet or in the MLC posts. He said that women should become proactive in politics to take on KCR for his suppressing policies against women.
