Hyderabad: Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao and TRS party president on Thursday told the party MLAs to pull up their socks and improve performance.

KCR who chaired the TRS Legislature Party meeting gave them progress reports based on two surveys which he had got done and cautioned the underperforming leaders to measure up to expectations and ensure that they are with the people.

He told them that if their ratings do not improve by the time he gets another survey done soon, they will not be considered for party ticket in the next elections. It is said that KCR was unhappy with about 40 per cent of the MLAs whose performance rating was low.

The Chief Minister said that the TRS continues to have a good image among the people. Expressing confidence that the number of Assembly seats in the State would increase before 2019 elections, KCR said that all the leaders should work to ensure that they win around 106 seats in 2019 elections.

He further said that once the number of seats increase, even the new entrants into the party would be able to get tickets.

The Chief Minister said that the good work being done by the State government was recognised by other states and banks are willing to purchase the bonds issued by Telangana government which speaks volumes about our performance.

The CM directed the ministers to utilise the budget session as a forum to tell the people about the achievements of the government.

He made it clear that the ministers should be well prepared and see that the Opposition does not get an upper hand. The information provided by them should be so elaborate that the opposition would not have any questions to ask. KCR said, “We are doing well… but we are not telling the people about our work.”

He directed the party leaders to complete the membership drive within a fortnight. KCR expressed displeasure over the absence of MPs in the meeting as only three MPs including D Srinivas, B Suman and Ch Malla Reddy were present.

KCR wrapped up the legislature party meeting within half an hour and took up the review of performance of the MLAs. He later called MLAs district wise and handed over the survey reports.

As per the reports, Chief Minister tops the list as best performing MLA with 96.70 per cent, followed by Finance Minister Eatela Rajender, with 89.90 per cent, Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao, 82.30 per cent, IT Minister K T Rama Rao 60.40 per cent and Tummala Nageswara Rao with 57.50 per cent.

Among the underperforming ministers are P Mahender Reddy with 38.30 per cent and Ajmeera Chandulal with 34.30 per cent.
