A five-year-old boy, who was found drowning in the Hussain Sagar Lake was rescued by the Lake Police with the help of passersby on Saturday evening.

​Hyderabad: A five-year-old boy, who was found drowning in the Hussain Sagar Lake was rescued by the Lake Police with the help of passersby on Saturday evening.

According to Lake Police Inspector K Sreedevi, some people noticed a small boy drowning in the lake near Lepakshi and raised alarm for help. A patrol team of the Lake Police and one passerby jumped into the lake and rescued the boy.

The innocent boy, who was trembling with fear, was made to come to normalcy before police tried to identify him.

The boy told police that his name was M Dhanush, son of Mahesh and his mother’s name was Subhadra. He also said he was a student of Arya Vidyalaya High School.

However, the boy could not say where his house was and where the school was located. He could only tell police that, “My house issituated near my house.”

What is more worrying is that he told police that his uncle Sandeep had brought him to the Tank Bund and thrown him into the water.

Since the boy could not provide further information, investigators are trying to identify with the help of CCTV footages the motor cycle on which the boy was brought to Tank Bund.

Meanwhile, Lake Police handed over the boy to Ramgopalpet police station for further action.
