Marriage support scheme gets extra push
The State government has announced an increase in the financial assistance, under the Kalyana Lakshmi/Shaadi Mubarak scheme, from Rs 51,000 to Rs 75,116.
Hyderabad: The State government has announced an increase in the financial assistance, under the Kalyana Lakshmi/Shaadi Mubarak scheme, from Rs 51,000 to Rs 75,116. The Finance Minister Eatela Rajender said that Kalyana Lakshmi, which is the brain child of Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, has brought happiness and satisfaction to a number of poor families.
There is wide spread appreciation for the scheme which is being implemented in a transparent manner under the supervision of members of State Legislature and other public representatives. He said that so far an assistance of Rs 51,000 was being extended at the time of marriage of girls belonging to poor families.
There has been a demand to slightly increase the amount taking into account the rise in marriage expenses. The Minister said that affection for girl child and respect for them is an integral part of Telangana culture and hence the government has decided to increase the assistance amount to Rs 75,116 per beneficiary.
