New Delhi: The 1080 MW Bhadradri Thermal Power Plant to come up in and around Manuguru has been accorded Environmental Clearances, eliminating all hurdles for the ambitious project coming up in Telangana.

This was disclosed by the Ministry of Environment in a letter to the Chief Engineer of Telangana State Power Generation Corporation late on Wednesday night.

The clearance will be valid for seven years. As per the norms, the total land required for the project was 1,177.2 acre but it was minimised to 936.92 acre of which 87 per cent belongs to Government and 13 per cent is private. In all 80 per cent is single crop agricultural land.

The Environmental Ministry stated that there were no wildlife sanctuaries, national parks and eco-sensitive zones within 10 kms radius which resulted in the clearances.
