Mahbubnagar: With the State government allocating adequate funds to Palamuru University, in the recent budget, the authorities of the university have expressed happiness and said that they will be focusing on developing the infrastructure facilities of the University and also affiliated Post Graduate colleges in Wanaparthy, Gadwal and Kollapur.
According to Rajaratnam, Vice Chancellor of Palamuru University, this year as against a proposed fund of Rs 102 crore by the University, the government has allocated Rs 45.76 crore, which is almost five times more than any previous allocations to the university.
“Never before the university had an allocation of more than Rs 10 crore since its establishment. We are happy the government has given liberal allocations for the university for this financial year. We are planning to take up all the pending construction works like hostels for boys and girls in the PG colleges and additional class rooms,” the Vice Chancellor said.
At present, the PG colleges in Kollapur mandal of Nagarkurnool district are in need of additional class rooms and hostel buildings for boys and girls. Similarly, the Wanaparthy PG College needs a new administrative block which is pending for a long time.
In Gadwal, the university is planning to introduce two additional post graduate courses of M.Com and M.Sc computers. Last year, the government’s funds were utilised for the construction of a double CC trunk road, connecting the main university building to the Pharmacy College and Central library building, spanning across more than half a kilometre stretch.
Similarly, the college building of Pharmacy and other blocks were completed. However, the university is lacking a Healthcare centre and a guest house and with adequate funds released this time, the university authorities are planning to construct a Healthcare centre and a university guesthouse in addition to construction of additional class rooms and hostel facilities for the students.
Panduranga Reddy PU Registrar, Pindi Pawan Kumar, Principal of PU and Madhusudhan Reddy, Examination Coordinator expressed their happiness and thanked the MLA, MP and the ministers from the district for convincing the government to grant better funds for a faster development of the university in the district.
