Hyderabad: Transport Minister P Mahender Reddy on Friday said that the open lands under Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) would be put to use for generating revenues.

The Minister was replying to a question raised by TRS member K Prabhakar in the assembly on Friday. Mahender Reddy said that the corporation had identified 150 open spaces throughout the State for starting petrol bunks. He added that efforts were also on to set up mini theatres to generate additional revenue of Rs 30 crore annually. He said that HPCL and IOCL came forward to set up petrol bunks at 69 places in the State.

He said that mini theatres would be set up at 350 places and about 12 firms have approached them so far. The Minister said that expression of interest was called for vacant land at Musheerabad under BOT scheme and added that two bidders had expressed interest.

He said that the corporation had identified 20 vacant lands in the districts of Adilabad, Khammam, Karimnagar, Medak, Nalgonda, Rangareddy, Warangal and Hyderabad.
