TRS govt striving hard to provide better education facilities in all Assembly segments: Jogu Ramanna

Hyderabad: Minister for BC Welfare Jogu Ramanna Saturday said the state government was committed to provide better education facilities in all Assembly segments. While the previous governments neglected education system, the TRS government was making a complete revamp and restructure for offering best quality education to poor and unprivileged classes, the minister asserted.

Replying to queries of members on strengthening schools in all segments, the minister said the state government launched 119 residential schools for the BCs. The members wanted the government to fill posts of teaching and non-teaching staff besides strengthening the schools with all facilities for SC, ST and Minorities.

While Congress member T Jeevan Reddy said as the government was not taking up DSC issue it should make some amendments to the existing laws to fill the teaching and non teaching staff in schools and colleges, TRS member Bajireddy Goverdhan said the situation of schools was not good and steps needed to strengthen it.

TDP member R Krishnaiah sought one residential school for boys and girls in every Assembly segment besides filling teaching and non-teaching staff. TRS member G Kamalakar sought a degree college and a junior college with adequate staff at Karimnagar.

Reacting to this, Jogu Ramanna said the government has asked the district Collectors to find suitable land of 15 acres for upgrading the primary schools to middle and high school in a phased manner. Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao was giving top priority for education sector and launched 119 residential schools (56 boys and 63 girls), he said.

Until the TSPSC recruits teaching staff and non-teaching staff, the government will take in guest and retired teachers and others, he said. The Collectors were asked to see that local candidates are given priority in filling these jobs besides finding adequate land for expanding schools.

The government was giving priority to all segments irrespective of party affiliation and spending Rs 1.25 lakh on every student for studies at residential schools, he said.

MLAs of any party can take lead in strengthening the schools to provide quality education by enlisting government cooperation and support, the minister said. The residential schools have got proportionate reservations like 74 per cent for BC, 15 per cent for SCs, six per cent for STs, two per cent for EBCs and two per cent for others.
