Bhadrachalam: Here is a proud son of Telangana Gujjula Ravinder Reddy who is completing 25 years, five terms, as mayor of the historic city Atlandsberg, which is 25 km away from Berlin. He was born in the temple town of Bhadrachalam to Gujjula Yalamanda Reddy, who served as an MP and MLA in Prakasam district. He pursued primary education in Kanigiri in Prakasam district and higher education in Hyderabad.

Talking to The Hans India on Sunday when he came to Turubaka in Dummugudem mandal to take part in a wedding ceremony, Ravinder Reddy said that he had gone to Germany in 1974 to pursue medicine. He settled down in Germany as doctor. He entered politics at the behest of the locals there.

He said that he would be completing his fifth term as mayor of Atlandsberg in 2019,. In 2009, he got a rare opportunity to become a member of the Assembly while he was serving as the mayor of the city. He said that winds of change blowing across Telugu states often figure in his discussions with friends. He said he has relatives and friends in the temple town and children also came to the temple town on many occasions.

Referring to his developmental activities in Telugu states, he said that he had built a marriage hall in memory of his parents. He built 215 houses for Sunami victims in Avanigadda and Vijayawada. Six schools have been set up for the wards of fishermen in coastal areas. Besides several rehabilitation centers have been built.
