Hyderabad: Telangana State Cabinet on Tuesday approved the proposal to create SC, ST Special Development Fund in the place of SC and ST Sub-Plan. The government would introduce amendments to the existing SC, ST Sub-Plan Act on Wednesday in State Assembly.

The cabinet meeting presided over by Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao discussed in detail about the implementation of the sub-plan and decided to spend all funds earmarked for the welfare of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes every year.

In the wake of recent reports that the lands owned by the Bhoodan Board were misused and in some cases encroached by the members, the cabinet is learnt to have decided to amend the Bhoodan Board Act to protect the lands from illegal occupation in the future.

The cabinet also reviewed the proceedings of the budget session and how the government has been able to counter the opposition parties. The Chief Minister directed the ministers to ensure that they be present in House during question hour as well as during discussions and see that all the issues raised by the opposition were effectively answered.

To build up to the formation day celebrations, the Chief Minister also directed the ministers and party leaders to make arrangements to hold a huge public meeting in Warangal on April 27. This would be preceded by plenary session of the party at Hyderabad which would elect the party president.

The Chief Minister wanted that the public meeting at Warangal be a massive one and should remind people of the meeting they had held during the Telangana agitation. The meeting should be a platform to showcase the achievements of the TRS government in the last three years, KCR told his ministers.
