Hyderabad: The High Court at Hyderabad on Wednesday issued notices to both Telangana and Andhra Pradesh State governments seeking to know their stand on reintroducing the lesson on former Prime Minister Late P V Narasimha Rao in Class VIII Hindi textbook.

Justice A Ramalingeswara Rao admitted the writ petition filed seeking a direction to both the Telugu State governments in this regard. The counsel for the petitioner P Shiva Kumar informed the judge that in 1991, after PV became the Prime Minister, the then Andhra Pradesh government had introduced a lesson in Class VIII Hindi textbook. However this was deleted in 1997 after charges were levelled against the leader.

However, the courts exonerated the former Prime Minister of all the charges, but still the lesson has not been reintroduced. He pointed to various directions given by both Telangana and Andhra Pradesh School Education Departments to the Commissionerate of Education in the States to consider reintroduction. But no decision was so far taken.

The judge admitted the case and directed the Principal Secretaries of Education Department and Commissioners of School Education in both the States to file counter affidavits.
