PENDING DEMANDS

New Delhi: The Special Representative of the Telangana State government in New Delhi, S Venugopala Chary, on Wednesday criticised Centre's reluctance in extending a helping hand to the State for its development.

Talking to the media, Venugopala Chary said that it was unfortunate that the Centre did not heed to the pleas of the State government for speeding up implementation of pending demands. Even the division of the High Court following the bifurcation of the State had not been completed despite repeated requests. The apathy on the part of the Centre was harming the interests of Telangana advocates.

The State had not been sanctioned an IIM and no funds had been released to the Horticulture University which is to come up in the State. Similarly, division of the Assets as mentioned in the AP Reorganisation Act, 2014, under Section 9 and Section 10, had not taken place so far, he bemoaned.

In case of bifurcation of the property, the Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao would take a decision on the suggestion of the Home Ministry directing the States to share the same in 58:42 ratio. The State government had appealed to the Centre to release Rs 450 crore for the development of backward areas of the State, but in vain.

He said he had met the Union Ministers here on Wednesday in this regard and reminded them of the same. He criticised the Centre for not incorporating the recommendations of NITI Aayog to grant funds for Mission Bhagiratha and Mission Kakatiya in the Budgetary provisions. As for the criticism of the Opposition against the Irrigation projects in the State, he said those raising doubts were anti-development and were against the State’s development, he added.
