Replying to a discussion on the demands for grants, the Minister said the awards would be given to encourage industrialists to follow best practices in the industry.

The government, he said, would distribute cloths made of handloom to 67 lakh families. He said the Mega Textile Park in Warangal would be inaugurated soon and the Chief Minister would give allotment letters to some industrialists on that day. Rama Rao said there were about 17,000 handlooms and 50,000 power looms in the State.

He informed that Telangana produced 60 lakh bales of cotton and the South Indian Manufacturing Association said the cotton produced in Telangana was the most qualitative in the country. From the 60 lakh bales of cotton produced in the State, 10 lakh is consumed in the State and the rest is exported to other States.

The Minister said the TS-iPASS won the kudos of industrialists and State government felt that a satisfied industrialist was the brand ambassador of the policy. Rama Rao said the government was serious to open the paper mill at Sirpur Kagaznagar, and was is in discussions with six companies and bankers. Though the government announced a package of Rs 30 crore as incentives to BUILT company in Warangal, the management failed to open it, he added.

He reiterated that industries causing pollution in Hyderabad would be shifted beyond ORR, and the government had been contemplating to announce special incentives to make investments in the backward region of the State.

Rama Rao added that food parks, spice park, auto parks and others would be established in various parts of the State. The Minister said soon the MLAs would be provided with laptops in the House so that they could go through the questions and answers at click of the mouse.
