Hyderabad: Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao on Wednesday said he was confident that the state would achieve 21 per cent growth rate as the stars are in favor of Telangana state.

Speaking at Ugadi function organised at Pragathi Bhavan on Wednesday, the Chief Minister, after rendering of the Panchangam by Dr Bachampally Santoshkumar Shastri, said as per the Government of India statistics and the figures worked out by the state officials, the growth rate would be 21 per cent which means the state will have additional revenue of Rs 15,000 to Rs 20,000 crore every year.

Even if one puts the figures on a conservative level, it will not be less than 15 per cent, he said. Telangana has become a welfare state and Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley too have appreciated the State Government's initiatives on multiple occasions, the Chief Minister said.

Expressing happiness over the prediction, the Chief Minister said, “There can be no other happier news than hearing that there will be good rains and good crops. The scientists too had said that there will be no El Nino effect.”

However, the Almanac predicted that there may be hailstorms during October.

KCR said during the period of agitation, the leaders in Delhi used to ask why the TRS wants a separate state. During that time we said, “if Telangana was formed, we will have our own resources and we can develop the state. What we said during that time was coming true now.”

The Chief Minister said that more than 3,500 industries were grounded and two lakh jobs have been created in the state. The industrialists are expressing their happiness that in Telangana State they were able to start production within four to five months of applying without paying a single rupee as kickback to anyone.

In other states, it takes a very long time sometimes three years or even more, he said. Referring to the predictions that the Telangana State might witness a rise in incidents of extremism and terrorism between August and November, Chief Minister directed Police Commissioner Mahender Reddy and Home Minister Naini Narsimha Reddy to be on alert.

The Panchangam, however, predicted a recession in the software sector.

Union Labour Minister Bandaru Dattatraya, Speaker of the Telangana Legislative Assembly S Madhusudhana Chary, Chairman Legislative Council K Swamy Goud, Ministers, MLAs officials and other invitees were present at the function.
