Hyderabad: Deputy Chief Minister and Education Minister Kadiyam Srihari on Sunday directed District Educational Officers (DEOs) to enrol more students in government schools as part of 10-day ‘Prof. Jayasankar Badibata programme’ commencing from Monday.

He said that the amenities in government schools have improved offering students benefits like digital class rooms, toilets, free books and uniforms and so on competing with private schools.

He asked the DEOs to submit him a report by April 20 on problems in various schools and supply text to schools by April 15 and uniforms to students by June 15. All toilets should become functional by the time the school commences, he added.

Digital class rooms will be functional in all high schools and Kasturba Balika Vidyalayas during the next academic year.

He instructed that the bills of mid-day meals contractor should be cleared by 10th of every month and the wages of cooks.

Appointment of over 8,792 school teachers is getting delayed on administrative grounds, he said asking the DEOs to take care of running the classes with the help of education volunteers.
