TJAC to focus on rural issues

He said the meeting also had discussed the steps to strengthen the JAC. He said they would appeal to the Centre to see that the chilli farmers get Rs 12,000 per quintal. He also alleged that the farmers were facing a lot of troubles due to absence of minimum support price for their produce.

Demanding that the State government purchase tur dal crop, Kodandaram said the JAC would organise a meeting on Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) dependent employment at Srirampur in Mancherial district on April 10.

He said the JAC would organise an all-party meeting in Hyderabad on open-cast mining and in the same meeting, the JAC would discuss the steps to protect Dharna Chowk near Indira Park in Hyderabad. He said the JAC would tour tribal areas to study the problems of tribals losing their lands in the name of Haritha Haram.

He said that the JAC had decided to strengthen the committee from village level and for that it would conduct awareness programmes to the members of JAC in Hyderabad as well as other districts and mandals. He made it clear that the JAC would extend its full support to the unemployed youth public meeting to be held in Hyderabad in April. Kodandaram hoped that the government would grant permission for the meeting.

A campaign would be organised from April 23 in Hyderabad to raise public awareness of the issues like power, health, agriculture, education, employment, etc, he said. The campaign, he said, was aimed at educating people on their rights. The meeting focussed its attention in drawing comparison between Telangana at the height of agitation for statehood and Telangana as it is now.

The JAC would take up all-party meeting on two issues, such as open cast mining and shifting of dharna Chowk in Hyderabad during this month.Regarding the issue of death of Madhukar in Manthani, the JAC leaders would soon meet the Governor and urge him to ensure free and fair inquiry into the incident.The JAC would take up a rally from Bodhan to Nizamabad demanding the government to run Nizam Sugar Factory.
