Mahbubnagar: Exhorting people not to trust middlemen in the allotment of double-bedroom houses, IT Minister K T Rama Rao asked the people to thrash them if anybody demanded money for sanction of double-bedroom houses. He described the double-bedroom house scheme ‘self-respect of the poor’.

The IT Minister toured Mahbubnagar district on Tuesday and inspected construction of double-bedroom houses at Divitipally village. Speaking on the occasion, Rama Rao said construction of double-bedroom houses was going on in a big way in Telangana State when compared to other States in the country.

It was unfortunate that the Opposition parties were criticising the prestigious double-bedroom house scheme though it was a good one, he said. He also said the State government had taken several developmental programmes in the last 33 months.

Coming down heavily on the Opposition Congress, Rama Rao said the previous government constructed single room houses and painted them with that party’s three colours. Praising his father and Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, the IT Minister said the former was constructing double-bedroom houses keeping the welfare of the poor in view.

He also reminded that the State government was extending Rs 75,000 under Kalyana Lakshmi scheme to the poor families for performing the marriage of their daughters. Panchayat Raj Minister Jupally Krishna Rao, MLA Srinivas Goud and MP Jithender Reddy accompanied Rama Rao during his tour of the district.
