Hyderabad: In the wake of criticism from opposition parties that Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao had failed to accommodate any women in the cabinet and had not even considered them for the recently held MLC elections, KCR is said to be contemplating giving greater priority to women in nominated posts.

According to sources, the Chief Minister is keen to complete the process of filling the vacant posts of chairpersons of various corporations before the plenary session of TRS which is scheduled to be held on April 21. It is learnt that KCR wants to accommodate at least four women while filling the nominated posts. The name of Gundu Sudharani from Warangal, Swarna Sudhakar Reddy of Mahbubnagar and two other women are under active consideration.

It may mentioned here that the party leadership has noticed that there is some kind of dissent among the party rank that even those who had played an active role during the agitation for separate Telangana State have not been rewarded even three years after formation of the state.

The Chief Minister had promised that he would duly recognise the services of all those who had played important role in the agitation for statehood. To curb any such dissent, the Chief Minister has decided to fill all the nominated posts as well as party posts. All the new appointees would be invited for the party plenary.

While it remains to be seen whether women will also get important party posts or not, it is clear that at least four women will be made chairpersons of the corporations. The responsibility of short listing the candidates and submitting the list of probable names of women aspirants has been entrusted to a 3-member committee consisting of Deputy Speaker Padma Devender Reddy, Lok Sabha MP K Kavitha and Tula Uma ZP chairperson Karimnagar.
