Hyderabad: The Bharatiya Janata Party which has provided Constitutional Status to the National BC Commission is now likely to push ahead the proposal for SC categorisation.

According to state BJP president K Laxman, the NDA government is keen to bring in amendment to the Constitution and see to it that the categor-isation of Scheduled Castes takes place. “Efforts are on in that direction and if that happens, then things would become easy for the BJP to emerge as real political force in the state,” he opined.

The road map for 2019 is ready and the BJP is all set to give a tough fight to the TRS in the state. Situation at the ground level is not as rosy as is being painted by the ruling party and at an appropriate there will be huge a migration from the Congress and TRS, Laxman said.

The state leadership says that talks with several leaders are at advanced stage and they would join the party at an appropriate time. While refusing to indicate the prospective leaders who may switch over their loyalties to BJP, the party leaders say that the list includes some former legislators and sitting MLAs from the Congress as well as the TRS.

In addition, efforts are also on to rope in some BC leaders into the party fold. If the SC categorisation becomes a reality, the MRPS leader Manda Krishna Madiga would also extend support to BJP, the party leaders add.

Explaining how the party was moving forward, Laxman said that they have already formed about 15000 booth level committees and will be holding mandal and district level meetings with rank and file once in three months to assess the progress of the campaign and chalk out new strategies.

The booth level committees will explain to the people about various welfare schemes funded by the Centre and will tell them how the state government has been diverting the funds, Laxman said.

The BJP would focus on various measures the national party had taken for the poor and will highlight the decisions of the government to go in for surgical strikes and demonetisation which got massive support from all sections of the people.

At the same time, it wants to expose the failure of the government in implementing schemes like two bed room housing, KG-PG etc. The BJP will also launch a week long programme from Friday wherein it will hold meetings in all the Lok Sabha constituencies in Telangana.
