Hyderabad: On one hand the BJP high command wants to go aggressive and emerge as a real political alternative to the ruling TRS but on the other the state leaders seem to be indulging in shadow boxing causing confusion among the cadre.

Though as far as public posturing is concerned state president K Laxman and floor leader in Assembly G Kishan Reddy appear to be united, but in reality both seem to be having serious differences. According to party workers for the past six months, both the leaders have been organising various programmes separately and there has been no coordination between them.

Soon after becoming the state president, Laxman had been going round the state and holding meetings to consolidate his position and get grip over the party. On the other hand, Kishan Reddy in February went on a tour to coal mines to understand the problems of coal mine workers.

As part of his 4-day programme, the BJP leader toured Ramagundam region of Singareni and it is said that he did not inform the state president about it.

Angry over this, Laxman commented that it was not proper for leaders to take up such programmes without informing the state and local leaders in advance. Following this, local leaders organised separate meeting with collieries workers for Laxman.

One of the reasons for Kishan Reddy being miffed with state president is because those who are close to him and were part of his executive committee have been left high and dry by Laxman and they have not been given any important responsibilities. Kishan Reddy and his team, it is said are organising parallel programmes and want to take up district visits separately.

Sources said that there is growing feeling in the party circles that Kishan Reddy in his capacity of being the floor leader has been monopolising the time in the Assembly allocated to the party to speak on various issues. During the recently concluded budget session, Laxman hardly got any chance to speak. The only occasion when he got maximum time was to speak on appropriation bill.

Soon after the House was adjourned sine die, Laxman criticised the government for not taking up various issues for discussion. A day later, Kishan Reddy held a press conference and lashed out at the government for skirting many issues. Two leaders of the saffron party which claims to be a disciplined party speaking on the same subject separately has left many in the party wondering as to what was happening to TBJP.

On Thursday, Kishan Reddy after attending some other function was on his way to party office to attend the party formation day celebrations. But the state president did not wait for him and the function took off.

Unhappy over this, Kishan Reddy attended the formation day function at Amberpet office and went away. He also did not attend the meeting of top leaders who met here to take stock of the situation following cancellation of national president Amit Shah’s visit to Hyderabad.
