Mahbubnagar: In order to convert Fair Price (FP) shops as centre points of cashless transactions and to check irregularities of essential commodities under Public Distribution System (PDS) as per the policy guidelines of the Central and the State governments, electronic Point of Sale (e-PoS) would be implemented across the State in a phased manner, said Commissioner of Civil Supplies C V Anand.

E-PoS system will be implemented in all the 15,606 FP shops in the State in different phases. 5,242 FP Shops in 10 districts in the 1st phase, 4,817 FP shops in 11 districts in the 2nd phase and 5,507 FP shops in nine districts in the 3rd phase would be taken up.

To start with, the system is being implemented in 40 FP shops on experimental basis in Mahbubnagar district, in six FP shops in Balanagar mandal, 20 in Jedcherla mandal and 14 in Mahbubnagar mandal. Anand formally inaugurated the e-PoS device in the FP shop at Divitipalli village on Friday.

As per the policy guidelines of the Central government to encourage cashless transactions due to cancellation of big currency notes, the Telangana State Civil Supplies Corporation made major innovative changes in e-PoS devices. Now major changes are being made in e-PoS devices in the backdrop of cashless transactions with addition of iris, scanner, weighing scales, swiping machine, Aadhar-enabled payments system, audio and also providing receipt of payments of current bills, water bills, etc.

A software is also being developed to take rationed stocks through bank account of the cardholders.In line with the directions of the Central government to utilise FP shops for banking transactions also, micro ATMs are also being installed, as a result the FP dealers will act as business correspondents in addition to releasing PDS commodities.
