Govt greenlights fund flow to 2BHKs in city
State government on Friday approved an administrative sanction of Rs 6,014.78 crore to construct as many as 69,535 double bedroom houses in the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) limits. It has also released a GO 212 in this regard.

- Of the total amount approved, Rs 5,338.96 crore will be the government’s share while the remaining amount of Rs 625.81 will be borne by the GHMC
According to the GO, of the total amount sanctioned, Rs 5,338.96 crore would be the government’s share and Rs 625.81 crore would be borne by the GHMC. The cost of each unit will be Rs 5.04 lakh in rural areas, Rs 5.30 lakh in the urban districts and Rs 7 lakh in urban GHMC areas.
The infrastructure cost in rural areas will be Rs 1.25 lakh and Rs 0.75 lakh for nine urban districts and urban areas in GHMC. A senior GHMC official told The Hans India that the civic body had already finalised tenders for the constructing of 16,000 2BHK houses at 21 locations and tenders for another 16,000 double bedroom houses will be finalised by April second week.
The official also said that the GHMC would also invite tenders for the construction of 69,535 2BHK houses in the third week and will finalise them by May second week. The GHMC had also finalised the tender process at another 15 locations to construct 9,668 2BHK houses at the cost of Rs 821.39 crore.
Of them, the corporation concluded the project agreement at five locations (Jangammet-288 houses, Syed Sab Ka Bada-48 houses, Bandamaisamma-540 houses, Yerukala Nancharamma Basti-432 houses, Singam Cheruvu Thanda-176 houses) where 1,484 houses will be constructed at a cost of Rs 120.12 crore.
Besides this, civic body has decided to handover the 2BHK housing project to builders by involving local MLAs and MPs at 4 locations where 6,528 houses would be constructed in areas including Ahmedguda, Chitramma Basti, Kidki Boodh Alisha, SHTO land Ameerpet, Gandhi Nagar and Ambedkar Nagar.
