Osmania University has initiated the process to get accreditation from the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) after a gap of four years. The letter of intent sent by the University for NAAC accreditation was accepted by the Council and it replied that inspection activity is likely to begin in August this year.

Hyderabad: Osmania University has initiated the process to get accreditation from the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) after a gap of four years. The letter of intent sent by the University for NAAC accreditation was accepted by the Council and it replied that inspection activity is likely to begin in August this year.

The NAAC would form a committee which would examine the self-study report of the university. It would send a team of officials to take up physical inspection. The inspection process may be completed by November and the university may be informed about the status of accreditation by the end of this year. The NAAC has recently announced the list of the universities and institutions which have been granted the accreditation this academic year.

University Teachers Association president B Satyanarayana told The Hans India that the accreditation given in 2008 had expired in 2013 and no attempt was made to get NAAC accreditation eversince. He said that as the University did not have accreditation, it did not get fifty crore rupees from the University Grants Commission which is only given to Universities with Potentiality for Excellence.
