Hyderabad: The rise in cases with symptoms of swine flu in summer months has become a mystery to the doctors. Normally, the swine flu cases are reported during winter time.According to doctors of Gandhi and other hospitals, they have sent the samples of patients who had reported with swine flu symptoms for virology tests.

What needs to be established is whether it is mutation of the virus or if there is some other reason. As many as 252 cases of swine flu have been registered in the last 100 days from January 1 to April 8 in Hyderabad and Rangareddy districts alone. About eight people from the outskirts of the city were reported positive for the swine flu recently.

The Institute of Preventive Medicine (IPM) stated that 252 cases were reported positive since January from the mandals in Rangareddy district on the outskirts of the city. Normally, there is a fall in the number of swine flu cases during summer when the temperatures rise.

However, the cases were reported even during the month of April, which was surprising, said a senior official in the Health Department. More cases were reported on the outskirts of the city compared to the rural areas. The eight members who were tested positive for swine flu were from the areas of Saroornagar, Narsingi and Balapur.
