Residential schools and colleges in the State would get a facelift and basic amenities will be provided from the start of next academic year.The government has asked the concerned officers to submit the details of amenities available with the schools and colleges in their purview, and list out the required infrastructure and details of the funds needed to provide new amenities by April 15.

The principals of TS residential schools and colleges have been asked to submit the details of infrastructure facilities including amenities to the Residential Schools Society for grant of funds
The works would be taken up during the summer vacations so that the schools would be ready with the required amenities by the time they reopen..Recently Deputy Chief Minister and Minister for Education K Srihari has instructed all the heads of the various wings of Education department and other officers to provide infrastructure facilities including amenities to all the schools.
The principals of TS residential schools and colleges have been asked to submit the details of infrastructure facilities including amenities to the Residential Schools Society for grant of funds. If any repairs are required their details should also be submitted to executive engineer who looks after infrastructure issues of residential schools and colleges.The details should include name of building or component, available amenities and required ones, whether the amenities were in working condition, their condition if dilapidated, required repairs and the amount needed for them.
The principals and other officials have been asked to give the information pertaining to condition of existing facilities like class rooms, laboratories, office room, staff room, dormitories, kitchen, dining hall, principal and staff quarters, toilets, water facilities, overhead tanks, sumps, drinking water source, bore wells, ground, compound wall and gate.
In case of maintenance works the principals and officers should give the details of name of the works required, like emulsion paint whether required outside or inside, white wash, repairs and painting to doors and windows, electricity connections and wiring etc.The government has announced that it would encourage residential education system in the State for the students of SC, BC, ST and Minority communities.
It has given orders to establish about 500 new residential schools from next academic year and residential degree colleges, one at each revenue division, for the women of SC and ST communities.As most of the residential schools and colleges were deprived of basic amenities and students were facing problems, the government decided to give a facelift to them so that the inmates get encouraged.
