Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) officials have locked horns with Revenue Department over double bedroom project in the city limits. The civic body officials allege that even though the GHMC has identified 362 acres land for constructing about one lakh two-BHK houses, the revenue officials have been delaying in handing over the land to them.
Revenue Department locks horns with GHMC
Hyderabad: Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) officials have locked horns with Revenue Department over double bedroom project in the city limits. The civic body officials allege that even though the GHMC has identified 362 acres land for constructing about one lakh two-BHK houses, the revenue officials have been delaying in handing over the land to them.
According to a GHMC official, the civic body has identified about 750 acres of vacant land in the city limits. The GHMC in order to take up the construction of one lakh two-BHK houses has zeroed in on 362 acres of litigation free land in 50 locations in the corporation limits. However, he said, even after sending the requisition to hand over the identified land, the revenue officials citing various reasons have been delaying the process.
When asked about it, a senior GHMC official on condition of anonymity said that the revenue department officials have been delaying the two-BHK process. He said, of the 365 acres of vacant land identified by the GHMC the revenue wing officials have managed to hand over only 10 acres of land during past few weeks. He said that the corporation cannot deliver two-BHK project under stipulated time if the revenue department did not cooperate.
The GHMC official further said that even though the State government has accorded Rs 6,014.78 crore to construct as many as 69,535 double bedroom houses in the civic body limits, it can achieve the target only if it gets the cooperation from line departments. He said that once the revenue lands are handed over, GHMC would call for tenders and finalise them.
He said according to State government’s guidelines, the GHMC commissioner can accord the sanction for constructing 2BHK houses in each chunk of land identified. He also said that the corporation would complete constructing one lakh 2BHK houses by December next year. He also added that the 2BHK housing project would be taken up within outer ring road (ORR) limits in G+ 9 models.
Meanwhile, the civic body has finalised the tender process at 15 locations to construct 9,668 2BHK houses at the cost of Rs 821.39 crore. Of them, the corporation concluded the project agreement at five locations (Jangammet-288 houses, Syed Sab Ka Bada-48 houses, Bandamaisamma-540 houses, Yerukala Nancharamma Basti-432 houses, Singam Cheruvu Thanda-176 houses) where 1,484 houses will be constructed at Rs 120.12 crore.
Besides this, civic body has decided to hand over 2BHK housing project to builders by involving local MLAs and MPs at four locations where 6,528 houses would be constructed in areas including Ahmedguda, Chitramma Basti, Kidki Boodh Alisha, SHTO land Ameerpet, Gandhi Nagar and Ambedkar Nagar.
