Hyderabad: Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on Wednesday said that delimitation of constituencies for Assembly would take place after the budget session of Parliament.

Talking to media after the cabinet meeting, he said that he has information that the Centre would set the process in motion and would go in for delimitation by issuing an ordinance. He, however, ruled out the possibility of early elections. “We still have 26 months to go for elections,” he said.

The Chief Minister said the cabinet has also decided to bring in State Heritage Act replacing the existing heritage act which was confined to the protection of historical buildings in GHMC and HMDA limits only.

The new heritage act would help to conserve the forts and historical constructions which were on verge of extinctions in many districts. He criticized the previous governments in the undivided Andhra Pradesh for having ruined heritage structures in the Telangana.

The cabinet also decided to revive the abandoned cement factory run by the Cement Corporation of India. The cabinet gave its nod to nominate Farooq Hussain and B Rajeswara Rao as MLC nominees under Governor quota.
