Hyderabad: The High Court at Hyderabad on Wednesday had to intervene in yet another tussle related to division of employees between Telangana State and Andhra Pradesh. It directed the authorities of Konda Lakshman Bapuji Horticulture University in Telangana State to pay the salaries of two employees of the Varsity’s horticulture college near Warangal.

V V Padmaja and another employee knocked on the doors of the court complaining that they were not being paid salaries for the last three months. The division bench comprising Acting Chief Justice Ramesh Ranganathan and Justice Shameem Akther dealing with this petition directed the Varsity to pay their salaries forthwith.

The petitioners were not paid due to the tussle between Andhra Pradesh YSR Horticulture University and its counterpart in Telangana, Konda Lakshman Bapuji Horticulture Varsity over division of employees between the two institutions. The tussle arose when the Telangana authorities sought to send 33 AP origin employees working in Telangana to their YSR varsity in AP.

Appearing for Telangana Horticulture University, senior counsel G Vidya Sagar told the court that out of 33 AP origin employees working in the varsity, six of them had not been reporting to the office, which is a mandatory requirement for claiming salaries. The petitioners’ counsel, however, disputed this and said that the Telangana State authorities were insisting on the employees to come to Hyderabad daily only for signing in the register without assigning any work to them.

He also informed the bench that the AP origin employees are being paid without any work for the last one year.
The bench observed that without allotting any work to the employees, insisting on their coming to Hyderabad daily from Hasanparthy just to sign in the register is unfair and directed the authorities to pay their salaries including the three months arrears forthwith.
