Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao on Wednesday said the Telangana Rashtra Samthi has set a new record by enrolling 75 lakh members. Addressing the media at Pragathi Bhavan after the Cabinet meeting, he said TRS was now among top three political parties in terms of membership.

Further, he said the party had decided to collect between Rs 25 crore Rs 30 crore through membership drive. So far, nearly Rs 13.50 crore had already been raised.KCR said the TRS plenary session would be held on April 21 and a huge public meeting would be organised at Hanamkonda on April 27. The election of party president would also take place during plenary session.

Home Minister N Narasimha Reddy has been appointed as the Returning Officer for party's organisational elections.
KCR appealed to the party leaders to observe “Gulabi Cooli” ( Pink Labour days) between April 14 and 20 and collect donations for conducting the public meeting. He said he too would become the coolie for two days. Referring to the growing distress among farmers, KCR said it is high time that the problems being faced by the farmers were reviewed.

The crop insurance scheme introduced by the Centre,(Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima yojana) was not perfect. Farmers and the government were still not clear about the scheme. In the wake of strong criticism from opposition parties on shifting dharna chowk from Indira park, KCR said the government is identifying suitable locations to set a up dharna chowk and a venue to conduct mini public meetings. He clarified that based on the complaint lodged by some organisations and court directions, the government shifted the dharna chowk .

The State had become power surplus because of new power generation plants and efficient grid network. KCR said that the TRS plenary session will be held on April 21 and a mass public meeting will be held at Hanamkonda on April 26. He said that the election of party president would also take place during plenary session. He said Home Minister Nayani Narasimha Reddy has been appointed as the Returning Officer for party's organisational elections.
