​Vikarabad: As the nation was engrossed in the birth anniversary celebrations of Dr B R Ambedkar on Friday, wife of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Jashodaben Modi, offered prayers to the architect of the Constitution at Nagadevatha temple here on Friday.

The ardent fans of Dr Ambedkar installed his idol along with Buddha under the hood of a great serpent in the temple which also has a huge idol of Nagadevata.

This temple has also idols of various Hindu gods and sages along with Bharat Matha, Swamy Vivekananda, Basaveswara, etc. Jashodaben on Friday worshipped at two temples in the town.

After performing various rituals, she participated in 'Annadanam' programme and distributed food to the devotees.

Later, she visited Santoshimatha temple in the town and offered worship. She was also seen offering fodder to a cow. As the news of her visit spread, Bharatiya Janata Party leaders and workers rushed to the place in large numbers to meet her.

Modi's wife had arrived in the town on Thursday night on the invitation of Baradi Ramesh, the priest of Nagadevatha temple and stayed at his house. She is expected to stay in the town for another day before returning to Gujarat on Saturday.
