Hyderabad: Expressing doubts over Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao’s statement, on providing free fertilisers to the farmers from the next budget session onwards, TPCC Kisan Cell Chairman M Kodanda Reddy alleged that the State government had neglected the agriculture sector in the three year rule.
Speaking to the media at Gandhi Bhavan here on Friday, Kodanda Reddy said the State government should implement the free issue of fertilisers from this Kharif season instead of next budget session. Questioning the State government on why it failed to review the input subsidy, drought relief funds and loan waiver scheme, Kodanda Reddy demanded that the State government solve the problems faced by the farmers immediately.
He alleged that there was no clarity in the statement given by the Chief Minister on distribution of free fertilisers to the farmers. He added that the Chief Minister announced the scheme without a proper plan. He asked the government to clear the fertilisers that are to be issued for the farmers of wet or dry lands. He also asked the State government to state clearly if the free fertilisers scheme would be applicable to tenant farmers or not.
He also asked the State government to indulge in the details of the selection process of beneficiaries and if it would be done by officials or TRS leaders. He said that the government should clarify whether the CM KCR announced subsidy was inclusive of the Centre’s subsidy or not.
