Tread Ambedkar’s path, Council chief tells people
Chairman of Legislative Council Swamy Goud on Friday said Babasaheb Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar was a great person who worked to establish a society where all were equal. Speaking at the 126th birth anniversary celebrations of Dr Ambedkar held at Sangareddy, Goud hoped that people would take inspiration from Ambedkar and follow the path laid down by him.
Sangareddy: Chairman of Legislative Council Swamy Goud on Friday said Babasaheb Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar was a great person who worked to establish a society where all were equal. Speaking at the 126th birth anniversary celebrations of Dr Ambedkar held at Sangareddy, Goud hoped that people would take inspiration from Ambedkar and follow the path laid down by him.
He said Dr Ambedkar worked towards social development and nation’s growth. He opined children of weaker and marginalised sections need to use education as a tool to eradicate social inequalities.
Observing that situation of weaker sections of the society had improved when compared to the past he hoped young girls took inspiration from social reformers like Savithribai Phule.
“Only when each one of us starts thinking and working for the society as a whole, can we achieve social and nation’s development,” he said. Praising the State government for getting 60,000 young Dalit women married through Kalyana Lakshmi scheme, he said the government was doing great work in improving infrastructure facilities in social welfare residential schools across the State.
District Collector Manickraj Kannan said it does not matter how long a person lives and what really matters is how big the person lives by his/her deeds. He said Dr Br Ambedkar was a great example of how a person could live in the hearts of the people even hundreds of years after dying.
Two books on the life of Dr Ambedkar were released on the occasion and beneficiaries of Kalyana lakshmi and other subsidies were given assistance during the ceremony. District SP Chandrashekar Reddy, MLA Babu Mohan MLA Chinta Prabhakar and others participated in the event.
