Hyderabad: Minister for Health C Laxma Reddy and Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao directed senior officials of Health and Revenue departments to take steps to commence construction works of Siddipet Medical College (SMC) by the end of May this year. Reviewing the progress of the proposed SMC with senior officials here on Saturday, the Ministers asked the Revenue officials to identify suitable land to lay foundation stone for the construction of the medical college.
Health Minister asked the officials to take steps for the recruitment process immediately as all necessary approvals for the appointment of staff have already been given. Further, the Minister asked the officials to speed up the process to provide necessary infrastructure, including basic amenities, surgical and medical instruments for laboratories and diagnostic centres at the existing area hospital which had been upgraded into a 300-bedded hospital.
Besides, the officials were asked to chalk out plans for department-wise development plans at the hospital to make it as the best teaching hospitals attached to the newly-proposed medical college. Special Secretary (Health) Rajeswar Tiwari, Siddipet District Collector Venkat Rami Reddy, Family Welfare Commissioner Vakati Karuna and other senior officials were present at the meeting.
