BJP backs quota for STs, averse to reservation for Muslims
Making it clear that the BJP was extending full support to the Scheduled Tribes reservation, BJP floor leader G Kishan Reddy on Sunday said the party was, however, opposed to the reservation to the Muslims which was violation of Constitution.

Speaking on the bill to increase the reservations for Muslims and Scheduled Tribes in the Assembly on Sunday, Kishen Reddy said it was violation of the Constitution. These reservations are purely religion-based,” he pointed out.Kishan Reddy said that Islam was against discrimination.
The Muslims ruled the nation for several centuries and there were hundreds of minority institutions. He said Ambedkar expressed the view that the reservations should help bridge the difference between the castes. He alleged that the state government was playing vote bank politics by highlighting the Muslim reservations. He demanded that the state government chalk out a plan for uplifting the Muslims.
