Hyderabad: The discussion on the bill to enhance reservations for the Muslims and STs turned into a war of words between the Congress and KCR. The Congress wanted to know if the Chief Minister was ready to state that he would not seek votes if he failed to get the assent for the bill.

Initiating the discussion on the bill on behalf of the Congress, party member T Jeevan Reddy said contrary to the election promise that the TRS would implement reservations for the Muslims within four months, the government took three whole years to bring the bill and even now it is not clear whether it would get the Centre’s nod for the same.

The Chief Minister who did not give a straight reply to Reddy’s question said he had never said that he would implement the reservations within four months of coming to power. “During my speeches in over 107 meetings, I only said that we will enhance the reservations to the Muslims.

He said when he had made the promise he was fully aware that such things cannot be done overnight. But immediately after coming to power the Cabinet at its second meeting formed the BC Commission and other committees.
