Municipal Commissioners told not to send WhatApp message for leave

Hyderabad: Municipal Commissioners will not hereafter be permitted to avail themselves of leave by simply posting a message on WhatsApp.
Municipal Administration and Urban Development Commissioner T K Sridevi on Wednesday issued orders that the Municipal Commissioner need mandatorily take prior permission from their respective MAUD Regional Directors for going on leave.
Issuing instructions in this regard, Sridevi pointed to some Municipal Commissioners going on leave by just sending a message on WhatsApp. Such a practice, she said, has been affecting the daily sanitation programme.
The official procedure has made it mandatory for the Commissioners to take prior permission from the Regional Directors concerned to avail themselves of leave. The Commissioners, she said, may use WhatsApp to go on leave only during emergencies.
Commissioner and Director of Municipal Administration (CDMA) instructions group was created to enable the Municipal Commissioners to send messages on WhatsApp after they conducted inspections in their respective towns between 5 am and 9 am.
