Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao says after the TRS public meeting in Warangal, the Assembly session will discuss stern measures to be taken against those who sell spurious seeds to farmers

Kompally: The State government will convene another one-day Assembly session after the Telangana Rashtra Samithi’s (TRS) public meeting in Warangal on April 26.

Indicating this, Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao on Friday said after the public meeting, the government would take stern measures against those who sold spurious seeds to farmers.

“He said the government would bring an Act and would not hesitate to put the dealers who sold spurious seeds behind bars.

Speaking at the concluding session of the party’s plenary held at Kompally here on Friday, Chandrashekar Rao said the government would convene Assembly to make an Act against the adulterated seeds.

“Since the Assembly is not prorogued, a session would be called after the Warangal public meeting for passing an Act to ensure that the company which sells adulterated seeds to farmers pays compensation to the extent of which the farmer has lost,” said Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS). The company would have to pay for all the losses the farmers incurred because of adulterated seeds, he said.

Stating that the TRS government was committed to provide corruption-free government, Chandrashekar Rao said the State government had done away with the earlier practice in united Andhra Pradesh where political leaders used to share corruption money.

Because of the innovative measures adopted by the government, it could now generate revenue of Rs 460 crore this year from sand, he said. During the Congress rule, the sand revenue used to be Rs 20 crore to Rs 22 crore and by the end of their tenure, the revenue dipped to Rs 5 lakh per year.

After the TRS government came up with new sand policy, last year it could generate Rs 370 crore and this year Rs 460 crore was generated, which showed the government’s commitment and functioning, the Chief Minister said. He congratulated party MPs, MLAs and Ministers for setting an example of selfless work.

Cautioning the Opposition parties not to make vague allegations against the government, Chandrashekar Rao called upon the Ministers to file cases against the people who make allegations and make them responsible for proving those allegations.

The Chief Minister assured to take action against private hospitals performing unwanted surgeries and private schools charging hefty fees. He said the concerned Ministers would soon initiate action against them. The Chief Minister said the government would start 30 new residential schools and degree colleges for the SC ST girls.
