Hyderabad: So far the All India Majlis-e-Ittehad-ul Muslimeen (AIMIM) was the only party that dominated the old city of Hyderabad but now things seem to be fast changing. Because of several initiatives taken up by the government for Muslim minorities, Muslims in the old city area were now looking towards the TRS and were bound to support the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS), said the party leaders.

Talking to The Hans India on the sidelines of the TRS plenary on Friday, a Muslim minority leader from Asifnagar division in the city, Qamar Begum, said several initiatives of the TRS government were reaching the people and with the proposed 12 per cent reservations, the Muslims were bound to support the TRS.

She said during the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) elections, the party candidate secured over 7,000 votes, which showed that the situation was changing and the party was likely to gain greater strength in future.Another minority leader of the party Md Shahanawaz Khan, who also heads ‘Forum to Support KCR’, said, “KCR saab has been working for the uplift of the downtrodden and focusing on Muslims, which no other Chief Minister has done earlier.”

He hailed the decision of the government to provide 12 per cent reservations to Muslims and said Chief Ministers of other states should learn from KCR and emulate the same in their respective States. The general mood at the plenary was upbeat and the participants felt that the Opposition parties could not make any headway as the government has come up with several new schemes for all sections of the people. E Srinivas from Nizamabad said the programmes of the government were reaching the people. There was no opposition for the TRS in the close vicinity, he added.

Party city general secretary G Dharam Raj Chaudhry said that there was no looking back for the ruling TRS. He said right from a newborn to an aged person, people were being benefitted in one way or the other by the TRS government schemes. He said the schemes of the government like ‘KCR kit’ for newborn, KG-to-PG education for children, gurukulams, Kalyana Lakshmi for young women and old age pensions were sure to get public support for the party.
