Indo-Global Education and Skills Summit & Expo-2017 was organised by the Indus Foundation with the Administrative Staff College of India (ASCI) as the knowledge partner here on Saturday. The summit underlined the need for skill development in all sectors to make India a global super power.Â
​Hyderabad: Indo-Global Education and Skills Summit & Expo-2017 was organised by the Indus Foundation with the Administrative Staff College of India (ASCI) as the knowledge partner here on Saturday. The summit underlined the need for skill development in all sectors to make India a global super power.
The chief guest K Padmanabhaiah, Chairman, ASCI, emphasised the need for focusing on the skill development in all sectors. "We need skilled manpower in all sectors that is the key for overall development," he said, while lauding the role of IITs and Polytechnic colleges in skill development. The IAS officer of 1961 batch, Padmanabhaiah, underlined the need of internship programmes in all courses.
Jayesh Ranjan, IAS, Principal Secretary, IT, Electronics and Communications Department, said in-house training was being imparted to the youngsters in TASK (Telangana Academy for Skill and Knowledge) with the support of the industry in an attempt to create skilled manpower.
"We have a different approach to training. Telangana State is perhaps the only State in the country that offers skilled manpower for free of cost to the companies that come up in the State."
Dr Ghanta Subba Rao, AP Secretary for Skill Development, Entrepreneurship and Innovation, elaborated on the efforts being made through AP's Skill Development Corporation.
Dr Sandhya Chintala, Vice-President, NASSCOM and Executive Director, IT and ITES Sector Skills Council, New Delhi, J Harikrishnan, Chief Operating Officer, Kerala Academy of Skills and others spoke.
C D Arha, IAS (Retd), former Secretary, Government of India, former Chief Information Commissioner, AP, Chairman, The Indus Foundation, said that this event is a precursor to six major summits to take place in Mumbai, Hyderabad, Chennai, Bangalore, Kolkata and New Delhi in the month of July.
He said "The Indo-Global Skills Summit and Expo 2017 aimed at taking a deeper look at the present skill ecosystem, map it against the future trends, identify future jobs and skill requirements and propose a way to reengineer the skill ecosystem.
President of the Indus Foundation S B Anumolu said the CEOs Networking event, followed by the summit, ensured fruitful discussions that could pave the way for possible partnership in the field of education and training. "Jatayu" a cultural show, was performed by Dr Sruthakirthy and her team of Sruthi Art Academy.
