Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Schools Parents Association (HSPA) launched a postcard campaign Sunday to draw the attention of Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao to their problem.Over 2,000 postcards handwritten by parents across the city were posted in batches at GPO on Sunday. Parents penned various slogans, messages, requests and demands in English, Telugu, Hindi and Urdu to the Chief Minister.

The parents wrote “KG to PG free mein padhaate bolke, School feesaan itii badhaana? Yei hai Bangaru Telangana?” (After promising free KG to PG, why the school fees has gone up so steeply? Is this Bangaru Telangna?) – Written in pure Hyderabadi by Md. Sharif from Shalibanda.

In Telugu, a parent Saritha from LB Nagar wrote “Meeru School Fees dopidi ni aapaka pote, memu meeku voteleyadam aapestam! (If you don’t curb the high fee being collected by the schools, we don’t vote for you). “CM Sir Please, Regulate School Fees” – Vijay from Kondapur wrote in the postcard. Some of the postcards even had cartoons and diagrams by the parents. Overall the theme was clear. They demanded that the government step in to regulate the school fee and find a permanent solution to the problem.

The HSPA members said they had failed to understand the reluctance on the part of the Chief Minister to redress their grievances. “The government does not even need to spend one paisa to meet our demands. All that we ask for is regulation of school fees, so that our money is not looted,” said Pavan, who is one of the organisers of the campaign!

We had started a give a missed call to stop fee hike campaign last year and received more than 2 lakh calls. But, could not get appointment with the CM to submit the data and now we are hopeful that after receiving 10,000 postcards directly at his doorstep, he would give us at least give us a hearing,” said Ramanjeet Singh, joint secretary of HSPA.
