Sangareddy: With the BJP sweeping the Delhi civic polls on Wednesday, Union minister Hansraj Ahir has said his party is winning all elections as people of the country have reposed their faith in its development model.

"People of the country are vexed with the caste and religion-based politics. They have realised that development is the only tool that can change their lives and are thus standing in support of the BJPs development model everywhere. BJP is winning all the elections, ranging from local bodies to parliament," the Minister of state for Home said while addressing the two-day Telangana state executive council meeting of the BJP, which began on Wednesday.

He said BJP will oppose the bill, passed earlier this month by the Telangana legislature, that seeks to provide 12 per cent quota for socially and economically backward Muslims in educational institutions and government jobs, as the party is against the religion-based quotas.

"BJP is against carving out the quotas on the basis of religion. The party will oppose the Muslim quota bill at all levels. The quota for Muslims is against the spirit of Constitution, as it is based on religion," Ahir said.

The minister said the BJPs next target is to win the Telangana Assembly elections, due in 2019.

"The party leadership is striving hard to strengthen the BJP in Telangana and as part of the efforts, 32,000 booth-level committees will be formed in the state," he said.
Ahir informed that the party president Amit Shah will be on the three-day visit of Telangana, beginning May 23.

"During his visit, Shah will interact with the party leaders and the booth workers," he added.
Recalling initial days of BJP in Manipur, Ahir said it was difficult even to get a suitable place for the party office then.

"However, continuous efforts by BJP and its struggle for people of Manipur has won party the north-eastern state," he said.

Telangana state BJP president K. Laxman said the party will expose the "anti-people policies of the TRS government and will work for the betterment of people."

BJP Floor Leader in the Telangana Assembly G. Kishan Reddy, party MLAs, MPs, MLCs and the office-bearers are attending the conclave.

The BJP today scored a hat-trick in the Delhi civic polls as it comfortably retained control of the three municipal corporations.
