Hanamkonda: Tension prevailed at the residence of district Congress president N Rajender Reddy as the police thwarted party workers’ attempt to stage dharna at Ambedkar circle in Hanamkonda on Thursday.The police in large numbers were deployed at the Congress leader’s residence, where huge number of party workers carrying black flags gathered. As they proceeded towards Ambedkar circle, the police detained them and house arrested.

Resisting the house arrest Rajender Reddy, ex-MLA P Veeraiah, City Congress working president Rajanala Srihari and its president K Srinivasa Rao, leaders EV Srinivasa Rao, N Laxma Reddy, B Srinivasa Rao, municipal councillors L Mounika, J Rama and T Raju and others staged a dharna. Similarly, ex-Mayor Errabelli Swarna and senior leader E Varada Rajeshwara Rao were also house arrested.

Speaking to presspersons on the occasion Rajender Reddy, Srihari, Swarna and others alleged that the TRS government was depriving the opposition parties of their democratic right of expressing dissent. ‘It was looking like a Hitler rule.’
The Chief Minister, K Chandrashekar Rao, before and after elections, has made several promises to the people in Warangal like constructing underground drainage, developing Jayashanker Memorial and setting up of new industries.

But none were delivered so far, instead the TSRTC Tyre Retreading Shop, medical and health RJD office and others were shifted from Warangal to other places. The government has also failed to conduct Kakatiya Festival for the past three years.
‘The Congress wanted to highlight this, but the police are not allowing us to protest,’ complained Rajender Reddy.

The CM and the local leaders should tender apology to the public in the district for failing to deliver the promises, he demanded. The police have also house arrested TDP leader E Mallesham and others. Mallesham said they wanted to meet the CM with 18-point open letter on various issues. But they were denied the chance. The CM has the moral responsibility to answer the opposition parties, he said.
