No Shikhandi can stop us from developing the state: KCR

Warangal: Equating the Congress leaders with Shikhandi, TRS chief and Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao said that his government would take the agriculture next level from where farmers in the State would call the shots.

Addressing a public meeting at the Jayashankar Pranganam in Prakashreddypeta here on Thursday, KCR in his opening remarks went nostalgic remembering Prof K Jayashankar. “My turn is always after Jayashankar Sir’s speech.”

When TRS was floated 16 years ago, no one believed that it would exist this far. And those who belittled the cause have slipped into the oblivion but the party went on to achieve separate State, he said. Stating that there were several issues in front of the TRS government when Telangana finally came into existence on June 2, 2014, he said that they had to start from scratch.

“Within six months, we tackled power problem.” He said that since they came to power, efforts are on to bring back thousands of people who migrated to other State in search of livelihood.

The upcoming Textile Park will see those migrated to other regions make a comeback. KCR said that the government has been spending Rs 40,000 crore on various welfare schemes. “This the Congress never in its wildest dream would have achieved,” he said, terming that party leaders as Shikhandis.

When N Kiran Kumar Reddy, last chief minister of undivided AP, said that he would not give funds to Telangana, none of the Congress leaders questioned him, whereas the TRS has always threw away their posts for the cause of Telangana, KCR said.

Referring to the government’ support to sheep and fish rearing, he said that all the caste-based occupations will be given due uplift in the days to come.

Faulting the Congress leaders’ belittling of government’s support to sheep rearing, he said that in next couple of years it would generate Rs 20,000 crore income to the people of Yadava and Kuruma whose number in the State is around 30 lakh. This, he said, is more than the annual budget of some of the north eastern States.

Stressing the importance of forming State and district level Rythu Samakyas, he said that the government has earmarked Rs 500 crore for the purpose, in addition to the Rs 8,000 for the purchase of fertilisers per acre for Kharif and Rabi.

“TRS will ensure a situation from where the farmers would call shots in deciding the market price to their produce,” he said.

The Congress is trying to create obstacles to irrigation projects, he said. The Congress knows that they are finished if the Kaleshwaram and Palamuru projects are commissioned, he added.

Those who challenged the TRS have already bitten the dust and the 2019 elections will wipe them out from the State politics, he said.

Deputy Chief Ministers Md Mahmood Ali and Kadiyam Srihari, TRS Rajya Sabha member K Keshava Rao also spoke.a
